Nest Launches A Cheaper Thermostat To Bring The Smart Home To The Masses | #TpromoCom #Nest #thermostat #SmartAutomation | Aaron Tilley for Forbes: When Nest launched its Learning Thermostat in 2011, it seemed like the ultimate Silicon Valley extravagance. The $250 connected thermostat looked more like an iPhone than any humdrum appliance (which makes sense considering the cofounder, Tony Fadell, helped create the iPhone at Apple). Still, the company looked interesting enough for Google to shell out $3.2 billion to acquire it in 2014. As a unit under Alphabet, the company said it now sells “millions” of its devices around the world.
The company hopes to keep moving beyond the techie world with a much cheaper version of its thermostat. (click here)

10 Takeaways from last week’s Hitachi NYC Event | #TpromoCom #Hitachi #smartcity #video | Jawaid Chotani, Director of Sales, Mid-Atlantic, Public Safety and Smart City Solutions hosted the first of many One- Hitachi events last Thursday afternoon in mid-town Manhattan at 101 Park Ave.
The event was scheduled at the tail end of the ASIS NY Security Show to capture some of the Security audience and serve as a platform to discuss how Hitachi helps cities and businesses thrive by providing intelligence from unified data, analytics and you guessed it IoT solutions… to improve safety, resiliency and operations. Although I’m familiar with our public safety and smart cities solutions, I was incredibly inspired by the solutions the presenters had to offer, as were our Partners, the End-Users, Consultants and A&E’s that were present at the event.
