Top 10 AI and Machine Learning Data Storage Trends

Broader adoption of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) has some system and storage managers really excited. Machine learning algorithms, for example, can be incorporated into the control layer to enable administrators to diagnose the various causes of traffic congestions far more easily. This allows them to predict potentially vulnerable network sectors.

“User requests and data traffic can be channeled to and from alternative storage locations based on network usage patterns,” said Shiladitya Chaterji, an AI analyst at MarketsAndMarkets.

How Video Storage Demands Deliver Sales Opportunities

A key consideration in providing a viable network video solution is data storage. Security camera resolutions continue to improve, and legislative requirements dictate that organizations retain video for longer periods of time. In addition, smarter devices, increased processing power and analytics are extending camera usage into business intelligence applications, also increasing storage demands.

Although advancements in compression technologies allow for increased storage capacity, higher resolutions require more storage and continue to drive demand. All these factors translate into new revenue opportunities for dealers and integrators.

Multicloud deployments are a major IT focus, with a whopping 85 percent of enterprises reporting that they have a multicloud strategy in 2017. That’s up from 82 percent in 2016 (RightScale 2017 State of the Cloud Report, February 2017). A big difficulty in pursuing a multicloud strategy is the complexity of managing different storage implementations, each with its own features, user interface, access methods and terminology. If that storage requires proprietary formats or protocols that are rare or unavailable elsewhere, the challenge increases.

Two major cloud outages by hyperscale cloud-service providers AWS and Microsoft Azure earlier this year put multicloud storage architectures in the spotlight. Enterprises using these public clouds suddenly found themselves unable to access their data for four or five hours. The Wall Street Journal estimated the AWS outage cost S&P-listed companies $150 million in lost revenue—excluding the cost to midsize and smaller firms.

Z3 Technology Unveils Dual Camera H.265 Full HD Video Encoder System at IFSEC 2017

LONDON, June 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Z3 Technology, LLC, a leading provider of video encoding systems, is excited to announce the release of a video encoder system designed to support two IP video cameras in full HD video resolutions at IFSEC 2017. Ideal for visible and IR surveillance and UAV platforms, the FV2K-DCK-10 offers real-time streaming with the lowest bandwidth and compression technology.

“The versatile design of the FV2K-DCK-10 allows users to incorporate two cameras while only utilizing one video encoder system. This provides a substantial cost and space savings compared to using two separate encoders when designing and updating security systems.” Aaron Caldwell, CEO, Z3 Technology said.

The FV2K-DCK-10 supports two visible and/or infrared cameras up to 1080p60 each, with the ability to select H.265 or H.264 for each camera independently. The flexible design allows for symmetrical or asymmetrical small form factor configurations for PTZ designs or bidirectional fixed camera solutions. The eloquently designed encoder can simultaneous stream and record in H.265 and H.264 from one full HD visible camera and one IR camera in SD resolutions.

Camera interface options include LVDS, NTSC/PAL, Cameralink, parallel CMOS, BT656 and BT1120. In addition, on-board interfaces include RS-485, RS-232, Ethernet (PoE enabled), HDMI output and recording to a USB or Micro-SD card storage. The video encoder provides remote serial control protocol communications support for most cameras including Sony VISCA, DRS, FLIR and others over the IP network.

Z3 will be showcasing the FV2K-DCK-10 at IFSEC 2017 in London on 20-22 June. To schedule a meeting with our sales team, contact For additional design services and support, or to learn about Z3’s additional camera solution offerings, visit our website at

Former president George W. Bush to speak at ASIS 2017

DALLAS—ASIS International recently announced a few speakers for its 63rd Annual Seminar and Exhibits to be held here, Sept. 25-28, including president George W. Bush, futurist Scott Klososky, and Boston Marathon bombing investigators Richard DesLauriers and Ed Davis.

Selecting the speakers required gathering input from many internal ASIS sources as well as conversations had outside of the organization, Peter O’Neil, CEO of ASIS International, told Security Systems News.

“We tried very hard, this year, to really be as diverse as we could in our line-up, in terms of diversity from all kinds of different perspectives,” he said. While he noted that the line-up may not have hit that goal entirely, “We’re really excited about the line-up that we’ve got here.”
