OPINION: Eliminating Local Police Agencies Across America

With all the anti-police rhetoric going on with certain individuals in government and in the private sector, I’d like to remind everyone how important and critical it is to have quality police officers on the job in our communities.

I’m more than tired of  hearing city officials and others degrade the need for law enforcement. I cannot even imagine what life would be like in our communities without police on the streets. Yes, there are a few bad applies, but look at the goofy city officials who are calling for the defunding of police departments in their own cities! Talk about bad apples, they are certainly rotten to the core.

Police shows being cancelled, schools calling for the revocation of contracts with police officers in our public schools, where does it stop? If Sheriffs and local city Police Chiefs were to offer firearm training for school officials, the very same communities would say no to that. We talk about Black Lives Matter, what about our children? What about store owners?

Law and Order begins with Police on the streets (image)
Law and Order begins with Police on the streets.

If regular, common people that can still think clearly do not stand up and support our law enforcement agencies, we’re going to one day soon turn around and find total chaos and anarchy in their absence. We can all start by voicing support online. That’s the very least we can do!

In my humble opinion, after decades of study, I believe that local and state authorities now calling for the defunding of local law enforcement may intend to call upon the United Nations to  provide law and order in their communities. We cannot allow this to happen. Please stand up for our men and women in blue!  —Al Colombo, Security eNews

Editor’s Note: When I was on an SDM assignment in the heart of Cleveland, I witnessed a drug deal in the basement parking area in the bowels of a high school. The security director was with myself along with the photographer when we saw it.

The security director said, “I think it’s best we leave now before they notice us.”

The basement was mostly clear of vehicles when, at the other end of the parking area, we saw two motor vehicles sitting together with men standing out and about them.

In addition, I saw bullet holes in windows, and the indentation of bullets in door frames and a light pole along the road. Unless you’ve seen something like this before you cannot possibly imagine the scene I saw before me at every turn.

The young man in this video is lucky to still be alive. –Allan Colombo

An Outdoor Video Surveillance System that Thinks and Acts Like a Human

An Outdoor Video Surveillance System that Thinks and Acts Like a Human | #Memoreyes #TpromoCom #VideoSurveillance #AI | I’d like to tell you about a new, revolutionary outdoor CCTV product that is like none other. I use the word “revolutionary” because it is just that. It leverages the use of quality Megapixel/HD quality, pan-tilt-zoom cameras with machine learning and an entirely newly developed series of audio, thermal, and radar-oriented sensors. Add to that an AI (Artificial Intelligence)-based learning control platform and you have an almost human-like control system with Big Data analysis. http://bit.ly/2KKKhEc

The focus of this new tech is outdoor protection. It uses thermal, sound, and radar to focus in on moving targets, along with a Smartphone app that stakeholders can use to alert the system when there’s a potential problem of an immediate nature. Cameras automatically  follow targets, which is not entirely new, but that’s just the beginning of the story.

The uniquely developed sensors allow the system to hear, see, and detect what the camera cannot see using a variety of unique sensors that truly makes this system revolutionary. Interaction between this interactive, integrated video surveillance system and stakeholders is audio/visual in nature, further deterring would-be assailants.

Currently the system operates using a unique machine learning system, but an AI (Artificial Intelligence) processing system is now in the works and will soon be incorporated, giving the system the ability to react with even more speed and intelligence. Through Big Data analysis, over time the system will learn the habits and trends associated with each camera within each specific setting, thus enabling the system to  quickly identify departures from the norm. There’s more.

I’d like to propose a complementary story on the tech with a short interview with the developer, who happens to be John Collings, the former inventor and developer of Uplink. A sidebar will delve into the advancements in AI and how they will be leveraged to make this new technology a must-have for office complexes, shopping malls, multiple-tenant housing, industrial complexes, chain stores, etc.

US Law Enforcement Busts Romanian Online Crime Operation

US Law Enforcement Busts Romanian Online Crime Operation | #TpromoCom #Children #Police #SocialMedia | Twelve members of 20-person group extradited to US to face charges related to theft of millions via fake ads other scams.

US and international law enforcement authorities have dismantled a group operating mostly out of Romania that over the past five years allegedly stole millions of dollars from American citizens using false advertisements for goods online.

Twenty people, including 15 Romanians and 1 Bulgarian national, have been indicted for their roles in the operation. Twelve of the foreign nationals have been extradited to the US and are set to face trial later this year. The arrests stem from a 24-count indictment that a federal grand jury in Kentucky returned in July 2018.

This is the second win against online crime in recent weeks for US law enforcement and their counterparts in other countries. In January, the government announced it had taken down xDedic, one of the Internet’s largest sites for stolen goods.
