The Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort is a full service entertainment venue located near Mount Pleasant, Michigan. It is owned and operated by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Nation. Relying on an overloaded analog infrastructure to run outdated surveillance equipment was becoming a security risk to the business. Challenge: Soaring Eagle needed to move from its Coax infrastructure to an IP-based platform. The complexity and “unknowns” of this massive technology migration were daunting: length of business disruption, frequency of network outages, challenges of integration and interoperability with the existing security network and LAN backbone, exposure to security risks and breaches, and the astronomical costs and the extensive building construction just to get the needed Ethernet cabling installed to support the new IP devices. It was imperative for the customer to find an alternative solution to this messy and costly undertaking.
Solution: The customer engaged an expert System Integrator (SI), North American Video (NAV), to help. Familiar with the IP-enabling capabilities of NVT Phybridge CHARIoT switch solutions, this savvy SI engaged in a no-obligation proof of concept using the award-winning CLEER24 Ethernet over Coax PoE Switch to solve the customer’s IP migration problem. The customer was able to test the solution in its own production environment, and within minutes of unboxing and plugging in the CLEER24, the analog infrastructure was transformed. Using the existing Coax cabling, CLEER24 created a full IP platform with substantial power, bandwidth, and extended connectivity reach to support the 1,300 new IP/IEEE-compliant HD devices. The customer also had the flexibility to deploy devices up to 2,000ft (610m), in locations where they couldn’t be placed before. The CLEER24 eliminated every migration barrier the customer faced. In record time, all new IP-based HD devices were operational and seamlessly integrated into the security network and LAN backbone.
Result: The customer was extremely satisfied with the NVT Phybridge CLEER24 solution and the entire IP migration experience. During implementation, the business and networks remained fully operational. There was no replacement required of the existing Coax cable investments, which saved the customer 40% in planned project spend. In addition to the new IP security cameras, a new core network was also deployed. The CLEER24 switch provided the seamless integration that the SI needed to manage the entire migration easily and flawlessly.
