(To each one of us)
|King David, son of Jesse, a Bethlehemite, was a brave man who, as a teenager, stood against the Philistine, Goliath. All the while grown, seasoned warriors either ran away or stood by and watched David slay him.
What makes this history lesson so interesting is that at first view David was not armed for battle. All he had was a sling and a rock, which are usually associated with children here in the states. But, upon closer examination, it should be obvious that there was something else in David's arsenal that day for what serious soldier would enter battle armed with only a slingshot and a stone?
David was certainly not a perfect man, but he was willing to do as the Lord commanded him. He was willing to stand up and step out when God called upon him to do a specific task.
You and I should be willing to do the same thing, despite our shortcomings, fears, and the many temptations that we undergo each and every day. To do anything other would be tragic, not only for our own eternal survival (perhaps), but also because of the loss that the world will realize because of our silence and lack of effort.
The choice whether to stand up and step out is yours to make. So, each time you witness corruption, remember that the only way that things will change is if you and I do like David -- stand up and step out!
For example, those in law enforcement and government in general are in an unusually good position where they can make an impact for good. However, if all the good officers and other government employees leave because of so many "bad apples," then who on earth will there be left to run the show? What a perfectly dreadful thought.
Won't you make an effort to do the right thing?
