"I have a friend," and I told you about this person on 7/13/04 in a Front Page story on GKO (Click Here [opens new window]). I'd like to offer you an update to "my friend's" situation, if I may. Last evening she hung up on me... yes, a life-long friend. She hung up on me because I asked her to tell me what Prersident Bush could have done, in her estimation, to save more American jobs over the past 4 years. Do you have any idea what her answer was? Let me share it with you.
"Ah..Ah..Ah.. All I know is he didn't do anything to save American jobs over the past for years... I know what Bush is like, but Kerry I don't know, so we must give John a chance!"
Over and over she said this, or the essence of the above. Over and over I said to her, "But you have to have something in mind that he should have done but didn't do in order to claim that he did not do anything to save American jobs." Over and over she told me the same thing, "Anyone but Bush."
My reply, "So what about all the other third-party or individual candidates who are running, they've never been President either? Why not give them a chance?"
"Are there others running?" she asked. "I've never heard that there are others."
EXACTLY!! Now, let me ask you, the reader of this commentary. Why do you suppose that you have not heard much about any of the other people who are running for President? Is this a two-party system, much as mother Russia was a one-party system? What about "equal access" and "equal time," for those who are old enough to remember this issue and how laws were written that forced television and radio media to provide equal time to candidates, other than the ones they gave time to (their pets, usually leftists I might add for those with a short memory or who are too young to know about this)?
The fact is the media, owned largely or controlled by leftists, once promoted their picks and they failed to allow their opponents "equal time." The result was laws that forced them to "donate" equal time to the others. What was the solution to this for them? No more donations of air time. All candidates will pay for this space. So, those candidates who do not have deep pockets, like the common man, will never be heard because they cannot afford to pay for the air time.
So much for Kerry or Bush being of the "common man" cloth, don't you think?
Anyway, allow me to share with you why I get so angry with people like this. As I told her last evening, I don't mind people who vote for Leftists if they are Leftists or they've really studied the candidate's voting record. But, this person, for example, knows nothing about how he's voted. She works right across the street from a major county library, and she could easily go over there and ask a librarian to help her glean both candidate's voting records and yet she says that she does not need to, that she knows what Bush has done over the past four years, and "Anybody but Bush, Anybody buth Bush!!"
My friends and dear enemies, this is absolutely irresponsible, and as I told her, all she is doing is aiding someone else's vote by proxy. She did not understand that, and I explained it to her. If she knows nothing about a candidate but she votes for him or her anyway, on the word of a largely Left leaning press, then she is simply transfering what they tell her onto paper at the ballot box. She is not doing any thinking on her own, only memorization. When she gets to the voting booth, all she is doing is remembering all the candidates that her Leftist connections have told her to vote for. These Leftist connections, in this case, is a Union father who takes her to many of the Left's events, as well as the popular press, which, again, is largely Left in their political slant.
Does she deserve to vote? Yes, because she's an American. But, should she vote come November 2nd? NO! She should not vote because she has not taken one serious moment to ascertain anything that her candidate has uttered! She should stay home on November 2nd, and if you, like her, have not gone out to verify the utterances of the candidate of your choice, then you, my dear reader, should stay at home as well!
This is Al Colombo, and I approve of this message. I hope you do too.

Opening GKO Page
The Giant Killers Organization web site is dedicated to the cause of freedom, here in the United States as well as across the world. GKO members may not agree on all points, but the one thing that we do agree on is the fact that Globalization is the commonality between Left and Right, thus no matter which party of choice you vote for, a vote for a Democrat or a Republican becomes an automatic vote for a waning economy, fleeing industrial jobs, and less control at the local level. Isn't it time for a third-party solution?
