Although a federal court judge accused President Clinton of using "deceptions and falsehoods in an attempt to obstruct justice" in the Paula Jones case, Clinton now claims it was just good strategy and that he did nothing dishonorable. (Clinton's Response to Disbarment Complaint, authored by David M. Bresnahan, WorldNetDaily.Com, May 5, 2000)
If you ask any child who is caught doing something wrong, like lying, why he or she did it, they will almost always tell you they did it for a good reason, for an honorable reason. Each of us must remember that there is no inbetween here--either an act is honorable or it is dishonorable, there is no middle ground, no gray area--other than between our ears, and each of us need to use it to evaluate just what is going on here.
According to Bresnahan's article, Bill Clinton's attorney claims that president Bill Clinton insists that his lying in the Jones case was just good legal strategy, that there was nothing dishonorable about it.
This is our top man folks. If this report is true, then the main leader of this nation, the President, has gone on record saying that lying is okay when you're on the witness stand, that you do not have to tell the truth even though you've just said an oath to God!
For those who do not fully understand what is going on, In September of 1998, the Southeastern Legal Foundation filed a formal complaint with the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct concerning the President's dishonorable actions in the Paula Jones case.
Hogue's complaint was based on Clinton's untruthful testimony in the Paula Jones case. Later, Federal District Court Judge Susan Webber Wright, who presided over the Jones case, added to the complaint when she issued a civil contempt citation for Clinton's misrepresentations under oath. (Clinton's Response to Disbarment Complaint, authored by David M. Bresnahan, WorldNetDaily.Com, May 5, 2000)
The complaint was intended to bring disciplinary action against the President for his actions in this matter. However, the committee chose to ignore it, until the Southeastern Legal Foundation filed a writ of mandamus action that would force the court to consider the complaint and take action.
According to an earlier story, authored by Bresnahan, WorldNetDaily, The citation issued in April, states in part: "It is not acceptable to employ deceptions and falsehoods in an attempt to obstruct the judicial process."
Sad to say, this is not the only case of dishonesty and alleged wrong doing on the part of this sitting president. Going back through my Clintons file, let's see what headlines we can find:
Perhaps one of the most telling headlines of the past 8 years that reflects the apathy of the American people is this: White House Tales Evoke More Shrugs Than Anger (AP 3/3/1997).
I do not care how well this economy may appear to be doing, and I don't care how many hundreds of thousands of dollars you may make each day on the stock market, this kind of behavior in court, under oath, is totally unacceptable, or should be.
Each of us need to get down on our knees and pray for Bill Clinton and all of our leaders. There is little doubt that something has gone terribly wrong in Washington and only the Good Lord can fix it, although you and I can certainly help Him by contacting our Senators and House Reps and letting them know that this kind of attitude and dishonorable, illegal activity must go.
Although I am sure that God could reach down here and do anything on earth that He wants to, I believe that He often does it through His creation, which is you and I. It is my firm belief that where the Bible says God helps those who help themselves, that it pertains to the fact that each of us should be willing to act to help ourselves. If we are not lazy and we are willing to try to help our situation the best way we can, then He is faithful to lend us a hand, providing our goal is one that fits within the scope of His own will.
Pray to the Lord and Praise His name. Ask Him to place His all-powerful hand on Washington. Then sit down and write, call, fax, or e-mail your Congressmen. What should you say? Why not justs tell them what is in your heart. Let them know that you want more accountability, personal accountability, in our nation's central hub, including the White House.
Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, or an Independent, it should not matter one bit. The issue of lying under oath and then deliberately misleading a legal proceeding for personal or political gain should never be tolerated here, in the United States. Third-world countries, maybe, but certainly not here. If it were you or I, do you think for one moment that we would have gotten away with perjury? You know the answer to that.
So, let us refer to Bill Clinton's own words in 1992:
President-Elect Bill Clinton said, I am concerned by any action that sends a signal that if you work for the government, you're beyond the law, or that not telling the truth to Congress under oath is somehow less serious than not telling the truth to some other body under oath.
His statement pertained to President George Bush's pardon of five individuals connected with an investigation of illegal activities committed by members of the Reagon administration during the Iran-Contra scandal. He was most eager to do the right and honorable thing when a sitting President of the opposite party did a bad thing. Now, with the shoe on his own foot, he is doing everything he can to escape personal accountability, including the telling of lies and dishonoring those who would testify against him.
Please pray for Bill Clinton. He needs our prayers and the Lord's touch. Also, write your Congressmen and let them know how you feel about this and politics in general. They need to hear from you.
