Most people seem like they're in the Hoover era. Just look at the fiasco with the FBI background files. It all started out with a hundred files being reviewed by someone that was never cleared to review them. At last count it was around 800, all under the guise that they might need access to the White House. To include many if not hundreds of people that had left government services years even decades before with no possibility of returning in the near future.
Anybody that had undergone such investigations or dealt with the intelligence community of this country knows that what happened as totally wrong, going against all kinds of federal rules and regulations. The investigation of American Citizens by any government employee was to meet strict criteria. At any time those rules were broken, hell was suppose to be paid.
By the way, your statements were very well stated. And if the populace knew they'd be frightened.
