Your confidence in God's grace is well founded. America is in a fog at the moment with no true leadership and no one (that we can see) in the wings to step up to the plate and straighten out the mess that America finds itself in.
This is all not an accident. The Bible says when the people ignore God's direction, He gives them children to be their rulers. Remember Gore's conniving in Florida? We are there...
The future is not bright but with faith, we can be assured that God is in control of the situation. This is not to say that we should just sit on our duffs and let it happen. I believe that God has ordained that men can change the course of history
See The last 2 thousand years .
The basic requirements are to have sufficient faith and conviction to do this. Today's current political climate shuns the mention of God in most, if not all, dealings. Anyone in power with the courage to speak out in public and declare that Americans should follow God's direction in government matters would be quickly dismissed as a wacko. In fact, anyone who has a definitive opinion on anything is out of tune with today's "go along to get along" society.
Take Dr. Laura for example. The homos went ballistic when she dared to say that their "lifestyle" was in opposition to God's directions as stated in the Bible.
I saw an episode of Hannity $ Colmes where Cal. Thomas hosted and they had quests "debating" the presentation of Christian Christmas displays on public property. As usual, nothing ever became of the blathering and viewers are left confused and divided from these side shows. It made me wonder when the assault will begin to remove the motto: In God We Trust, which is on our currency.
Thankfully, the founders of America knew what to do when they saw the handwriting on the wall. Unless men of similar courage and conviction take the present stage, I fear that we will be relegated to writing, talking, whining, wimping as we watch our freedoms continue to erode and be taken from us.
