KLA is actually an acronym for the Kosovo Liberation Army, a militant band of men and women who are presumedly fighting for independence from Yugoslavia. According to Liberation, a French Journal, the KLA, which came into being in November, 1997, adheres to the pure Marxism dogma of Enver Hoxha, a former Albanian dictator. The KLA is said to be aligned with Osama bin Laden, a militant Saudi millionaire.
According to Ben Works, Director, Strategic Research Institute of the United States (SIRIUS), Osama bin Laden's organization is helping the KLA by equipping them with weapons. Works calls bin Laden's organization an "Islamic fundamentalist terrorist group," and the Albanians are largely Islamic. Bin Laden was accused of bombing the U.S. embassies in Africa.
In addition to Osama bin Laden, it is rumored that Iran is working with the KLA as well.
The KLA, according to Ben Works, SIRIUS, is part of a worldwide drug cartel. He said that Kosovo "will find itself controlled by the gunmen of an international drug-dealing mafia masquerading as an idealistic liberation army."
According to William Norman Grigg, author of Driving Into the Kosovo Quagmire, published in the New American, March 15, 1999, "The narco-mafia from which the KLA was spawned has been deeply involved in drug trafficking since the early 1980s as a means of fueling political insurrection."
