Honorable Congressman Ralph Regula;
It was nice talking with you at the Gun Control meeting in Alliance, sponsored by the League of Women's Voters. It was also nice to hear that you believe in the 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights. It appears that there are those in government who do not hold the same respect for the U.S. Constitution.
First, I would like to know where you stand on the Gun Control provisions contained in the current legislation that recently passed the Senate.
Second, please know that I am not especially in love with guns. But, I know history well enough to realize that unless we successfully protect the 2nd Amendment, in time all of the other core amendments will suffer the same fate.
Third, I am extremely concerned over the issue of gun registration; aka: FBI background checks. Without a doubt, since International pressure was not successful in implementing direct gun registration, the use of our FBI databases to verify background prior to purchases constitutes the very same thing. If a person passes the background check, the FBI can assume that the individual purchased the gun. End of story.
I sincerely hope that you do not support any additional gun control measures. Instead, I would hope that Congress would entertain a study who's aim would be to establish the "true" cause of these children using firearms to injur and kill others (i.e. constant prescribed drugs). Without a doubt, it's not the gun that pulls the trigger, it's the person.
We both know that there are powerful International interests that have bought and coerced their way into this arena. Please support the Constitution in every way that you can. I will do the same as a fellow citizen by voicing my opinion and writing articles to support our Constitution and the restoration of our Republican form of government.
With great respect,
Sincerely,
Allan B. Colombo
