Ethnic Cleansing in Kosovo?
Who's Cleansing (Kidding) Who?

Jeremy Sachill, reporter and producer for Pacifica Radio's Democracy Now, as reported by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, on 3 August 2000 wrote:

"United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan told the Security Council that violent attacks by Kosovo Albanians against Serbs and other minorities 'appear to be part of an orchestrated campaign.' The secretary general did not say who exactly is orchestrating this campaign. Perhaps that's because to do so would implicate the Kosovo Protection Corps, established, funded and commanded by the UN."

"It would also acknowledge that the UN's stated efforts to maintain peace in Kosovo following the Belgrade's brutal campaign against Albanians have failed to stop a second deadly round of ethnic violence." (Dismantle the KLA, Jeremy Sachill, Cleveland Plain Dealer, 3 Aug 2000)

According to Sachill, the KPC, which consists primarily of demilitarized soldiers of the KLA, are responsible for for sustaining a high level of violence against the Serbs in what appears to be an attempt to ethnically cleanse Kosovo.

"An internal UN report prepared for Annan and leaked to journalists earlier this year accuses the KPC of 'criminal activities, killings, ill treatment/torture, illegal policing, abuse of authority, intimidation, breaches of political neutrality and hate speech.'"

Worse yet, the U.N. apparently has turned a blind eye to KPC activities.

"Susan Manuel, spokesperson for the UN Mission in Kosovo, says, 'As far as I know, no one's been (criminally) charged with anything.' This refusal to prosecute those in the KPC who commit atrocities has in effect given the go-ahead to a wider campaign of terror against Serbs and other civilians," said Sachill.

Clearly, in this case it appears as though the cure is worse than the alleged disease; and if the facts were widely known, it would be clear to most of us that there was no genocide taking place in Kosovo in the first place. Now, from what Schill has told us, I'm not so sure there may not be at this time; but instead of the Serbs perpetrating genocide, it appears to be the KLA (Albanians).

Instead of minding our own business and allowing the Albanians and Serbs to duke it out for themselves (this is called "self determination," or "noninterference"), we stuck our nose where it did not belong. Perhaps the country of Yugoslavia, which includes Kosovo, would be better off today if we had stuck to our own business instead of minding everyone elses'.

Worse yet, if the facts were widely known as to what and who the KLA are, it would be apparent to most of us (those who still practice common sense) that the international community had no business getting involved in what was essentially a civil matter. However, considering the fact that the U.N. does not believe in or honor national sovereignty, all of this is of no surprise.

Just who are the KLA? Here is a copy of our fact sheet, also found in our Congressional Letters section (this will open up another window in your browser):

Fact Sheet:    The KLA

KLA is actually an acronym for the Kosovo Liberation Army, a militant band of men and women who are presumedly fighting for independence from Yugoslavia. According to Liberation, a French Journal, the KLA, which came into being in November, 1997, adheres to the pure Marxism dogma of Enver Hoxha, a former Albanian dictator.

The KLA is said to be aligned with Osama bin Laden, a militant Saudi millionaire.

According to Ben Works, Director, Strategic Research Institute of the United States (SIRIUS), Osama bin Laden's organization is helping the KLA by equipping them with weapons. Works calls bin Laden's organization an "Islamic fundamentalist terrorist group," and the Albanians are largely Islamic. Bin Laden was accused of bombing the U.S. embassies in Africa.

In addition to Osama bin Laden, it is rumored that Iran is working with the KLA as well.

The KLA, according to Ben Works, SIRIUS, is part of a worldwide drug cartel. He said that Kosovo "will find itself controlled by the gunmen of an international drug-dealing mafia masquerading as an idealistic liberation army."

According to William Norman Grigg, author of Driving Into the Kosovo Quagmire, published in the New American, March 15, 1999, "The narco-mafia from which the KLA was spawned has been deeply involved in drug trafficking since the early 1980s as a means of fueling political insurrection."
