Al Colombo
A few months ago I wrote an editorial that appeared in a local newspaper as well as my web site (U.S. Troops Help Squelch Freedom in Bosnia). That editorial described how U.S. Troops, under the command of NATO, which is under the command of the U.N., surrounded radio and TV stations in Sarauevo, Bosnia, removing their operators and installing those who are sympathetic to the U.N. agenda as outlined by the Dayton Agreement.
Well, in that letter I ask the question, should our fighting men and women be used to infringe on the right of these people to speak in opposition to the U.N.? I asked how long it might be, if we don't do anything about this, until the U.N. decides to try to suppress/censor U.S. radio and TV stations that speak out against their one-world-government scheme.
Recently we learned of the U.N.'s desire to police the internet by removing hate content. However, the 50-dollar question is, who will define what hate content is? Do you think they'd allow the Pope this honor? I doubt it, for he might not widely define what hate content is, which means it won't do them any good.
Now, according to the following news report, a former U.N. human rights officer has written an article suggesting that the United nations police the airways by jamming radio and television stations that transmit content that could incite violence, as in Rawanda (http://web.raex.com/~colombo/un_jamer.htm). Good idea on the surface, for it was a radio/televised program that started the killing, but who will determine what is dangerous/violent and what is not?
The implication of such an action by the world's elected one-world-government organization is not at all pleasant to consider, especially for a people who have been free to oppose their government, where freedome of the Press was once the norm, not the exception. But, slowly and surely these rights are being replaced by a desire to control what the American people see and hear. Reminds me of some of the futurist programs that came out of the 50s era where Big Brother used mass televised propaganda to control the masses.
A frightening thought. but considering the fact that NO ONE has printed the fact that President Clinton declared a state of National Emergency in 1994, I have to ask the question whether we might not already be there?
View information on the plan that calls for the U.N. to monitor local media and jam radio and television programs considered to be dangerous for citizen consumption.
