Christian, Be Ready

25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Remember, Jesus, the Christ, came to fulfill the law, not to do away with it. --Al Colombo

According to the April 21st issue of the USA Today, "Several Supreme Court justices expressed skepticism Tuesday about the Bush administration's effort to block court hearings for nearly 600 foreigners who are being held at a military base in Cuba as part of an anti-terrorism policy."

For so many years we have heard about the "separation of church and state," but what about the "separation of powers?"

Detained accused terrorists are not the concern of the U.S.-based High Court. These are individuals who where apprehended, investigated, and then held because they are suspected terrorists. No, there is not due process guaranteed "foreigners" in instances such as this. Not even U.S. citizens are guaranteed their usual and traditional rights as afforded and guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution. Perhaps the Courts ought to do their job and allow the military to do theirs. Perhaps the High Court would do a better job of "interpreting" the meaning of the Constitution, rather than trying to form new interpretations that our Founding Fathers could never have intended.

For those who may not understand the motive in the act of forming new interpretations to old Constitutional issues that were long ago interpreted and understood, it is an integral part of forming and shaping the "new society" we see before us--the "not-so-great" social experiment now taking place all around us. Surely Jefferson, Edison, Franklin and all the others turn in their graves every time the High Court "reinterprets" another once-understood Constitutional issue.

There are those who believe that "war" is wrong no matter where, when, and under what circumstances that it occurs. Although I am not in favor of causing "war" for personal gain or national interests (based on "want of wealth" and not "need of protection"), I maintain that "war" is justified when the order comes from the Most High, He that created all of what we see and cannot see. In support of my statement, I submit the following passage from the OLD TESTAMENT.

This fine Sunday morning, this humble American would like to comment on two issues of interest in the news as of late: first, the issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; and second, the issue of military action in Iraq, our casualties among American Armed Forces, and the top agenda.

It was in the middle of the 1970s that the late Daniel Moynihan entered and exited as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Upon his leaving he gave three definitions of that organization: "A theater of the absurd, a decomposing corpse, and an insane asylum." Then, giving his remarks support, he quoted a leading British journalist of the time who said that the U.N. was among "the most corrupt and corrupting creations in the whole history of human institutions."
