RITALIN REACTION
TEXAS STYLE

The best adverse reaction to RITALIN seen yet!!

Not long after the massacre at Columbine School in Colorado, the State Board of Education sent a memo to all teachers in the state suggesting they ease up a bit on breaking laws against practicing medicine without a license and intimidation. It had been SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) in Colorado, and every other state, for teachers to pressure parents to have their kids "tested" to see which dangerous mind bending drug for "ADD" (Attention Deficit Disorder) would "SUB" (Subdue Unwanted Behavior) best.

Ritalin has been at the top of the charts for years. It is now rapidly being replaced by Adderal, Concerta, Paxil, Prozac and other drugs even more harmful than Ritalin. What was PT Barnum's second most famous quote? "Never underestimate the stupidity of the America People."

Texas is known for doing things bigger but this time they did it better. The State BOE (Board of Education) passed a resolution November 2, 2000 that even Ranger Cordell Walker, Dr. Ron Paul, Zig Ziglar and Dr. John Breeding would gladly enforce. After the 12 WHEREAS paragraphs the second resolved states: "RESOLVED. That the State Board of Education encourage local boards and superintendents to require local school personnel to use proven academic and/or management solutions to resolve behavior, attention, and learning difficulties. The State Board of Education suggests that programs such as tutoring, vision testing, phonics, nutritional guidance, medical examinations, allergy testing, standard disciplinary procedures, and other remedies known to be effective and harmless be recommended to parents as their options...."

My first reaction was WOW!! and Amen. This is great! I hope it will spread to every state. Look at the phrase "effective and harmless." I can picture more schools adding Zig's "I can" program to curriculum. It has proven effective and harmless for over 20 years. I can see the Ten Commandments back. They have been effective and harmless for over 3,000 years. They might even let the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts back. To restore, or even slow down a progressive degenerative process, it always takes going back. Wood shop has always done more for young women than so called "sex-education." Hang on to that phrase: "remedies known to be effective and harmless."

Did you notice they even mentioned "Nutritional guidance?" Why? Back up to their whereas #9: Whereas, up to one million school aged children in Texas are taking psychiatric drugs...." When we look real close at the nutritionally void, toxic-laden, so-called food, the average child ingests at breakfast and lunch we should expect high risk for many degenerative diseases as well as "chemical imbalances in the brain."

Here is the challenge and the opportunity. Teaching "nutritional guidance" is not like teaching English or math. It won't matter how good the textbooks are if Pepsi and tadertots what's for lunch. If mom shows a slid presentation by Dr. Miitra Ray or the Mayo Clinic every morning for breakfast it won't mean a thing. It won't change anything. Nutrition is something we learn hands on, or should I say "lips on." It is like a man with a champion coon dog that was only fed turnip greens. His friend asked how he ever taught his hound to eat turnip greens, he replied, "Well, the first couple of weeks he wouldn't touch 'em."

There is a combination of 3 specific food items that cost less than two dollars yet has helped thousands of children get off the psychiatric drugs. Thousands more have been prevented from even starting on: Adderal, Ritalin, Concerta, Paxil, Clonidine, Prozac, Zoloft, Cylert, Luvox, St. Johns wort, mega vitamins, and other dangerous substances by adding these 3 foods at breakfast and lunch. It takes 30 seconds, does not interfere with anything else on the menu and children do not complain about the taste. It is a remedy known to be effective. It is a remedy known to be harmless. It is a remedy that is inexpensive, efficacious, convenient and tastes good. I'll be happy to tell every board of education, every teacher and every parent all about it. I can teach, you can learn, but it won't mean a thing till someone does it.

THE TEXAS TWO-STEP STUDY

STEP ONE:

Select 5 elementary schools in 5 different districts and arrange that one first grade class in each participate in a test. You will need one trusted test coordinator and a 3 person evaluation team. The "E" teacm will evaluate 10 different first grade classes, before and after the 60 day test, but can not have prior knowledge of which 5 get "the independent variables."

It will take parent participation because every child in each of the 5 selected first grade classes will need to be given the special food item at breakfast and at lunch. Actually just before lunch for the convenience of the teachers. You might consider Dr. John Breeding as one of the 3 on the "E" team.

The children in these classes who are already being drugged with Ritalin or something will not be treated any differently. The medical Doctors and/or psychologists who's care they are under must NOT know of the test. This is critical because E-team will also evaluate their objective observations. The objectivity of those Doctors must be preserved. The cost here will be about 80 cents per child per school day but the long-term savings could be much more.

The null-hypothesis here is that improved nutrition will cause no significant observable improvement in social behavior, general health or academic grades of first grade children. If disproved, you will not only have learned something, you will have a positive program to implement. I will help.

STEP TWO:

This step can be done simultaneously using the same or a different E-team. In each of 2 different districts 50% of the 9th and 10th graders, who are currently being medicated for ADD, ADHD, Social anxiety, Depression, Oppositional Defiance disorder, bi-polar, etc., will be asked with their parents and doctors to participate in a 90 day test.

The cost here might be closer to $1.50 but again the rewards could be far beyond that. You'll notice on this research the Doctors have to have the knowledge up front. The independent variables here will include 2 different food items. The goal will be to see if a significant number of these students can be weaned off the drugs. Call me, Bob Manfull, at 330-455-7583 and will discuss results.

Whether Texas decides to do either test or not, I truly thank Rosie Collins Sorrerlls, Chase Untemeyer and all members of the Texas State Board of Education for taking a bold step. I really think they "took the bull by the horns." I sure wish to see Ohio and other states follow in their footsteps and together we can "arrest the psychiatric police."
