By order of the President
of the United States of America,
"...we are to be Citizens; not spectators...."That was one admonition given to us by President Bush on January 20, 2001; and thus, there are three things that our children need to know. They are:
- The responsibilities of citizenship,
- The origin of our liberties, and
- The proper role of government.
The problem: these things are not taught in schools.
The solution: They are taught at RWU Summer Camps.RWU (Robert Welch University) Summer Camp is a five-day, fun-filled excursion for teens, ages 14 through 19. In addition to all the normal fun activities, those who attend will spend a couple of hours each day learning about this country and its proud heritage from some of the most qualified teachers in America.
The RWU Camp program started in 1971 at Robert Welch University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where it has became extremely popular. Now, RWU camp will be conducted in nine states during the summer of 2001.
In North Central Ohio, RWU Camp will be offered the third week of August at the Akron Rotary Club on State Route 619. Here there are 10 cabins, seven kids and 1 counselor to a unit. As of this writing, eight counselors, two cooks and one lifeguard are still needed and volunteers are welcome to apply. Cabin counselors go at half price. Any responsible adult may apply for membership. With room for only 70, space is limited, so please apply ASAP.
Church youth leaders, student teachers, and visiting missionaries are often chosen as counselors. A 12-minute video is available that describes what camp RWU is all about. Come can see it any Monday at at Addessi Center, Canton, at 1800 (06:00 P.M. ET). The Addessi Center is located just off Woodlawn between 12th St. and Hills and Dales. Look for the Addessi Center sign on the East side of Woodlawn. Call Bob Manfull for additional information (contact information above).
SPECIAL EVENT:
On Monday, May 14, 1700 (05:30 P.M. ET), at Four Points Sheraton, Belden Village, there will be a special showing with FREE Admission. The first counselor meeting will be held afterward for those who intend to participate. You may wish to stay, or come back at 1900 (07:00 P.M. ET) and pay $6.00 to hear a live presentation by William Jasper about The United Nations World Court System. Call Bob Manfull for more information.
