The Old Tree is a Changin'
|
Sometimes it's difficult to say why a particular scene attracts you. This old tree, for example, has been standing along an old state highway for decades. It has long stopped bearing fruit, even leaves, and yet children love to come here to climb and to express their love for this old tree. As the times change, so do the ways they express their feelings. Society is much the same, constantly changing, never staying the same. And, sometimes we actually harm ourselves in much the same way that these recent-day children harmed the beauty of this old tree. Sometimes society can take a good thing and destroy it, usually at the urging of someone or some group who have ulterior motives. Consider this fact when you hear news regarding global warming, historic slavery and reparations, sustainable development, birth control and abortion, as well as hate crimes. Always ask yourself, "who has the most to gain?" and there you will usually find the prompter(s). |
