CANTON SOUTH, Ohio; July 15, 2009 --Ogie Shaw, executive director of Community Fitness Leaders, will provide an informative talk on fitness and the shape of America at the July 30th meeting. Community Fitness Leaders is a training program for health and fitness professionals. Shaw also is president of Ogie Shaw Fitness, based in Beaverton, Orgon.

Rotary members are encouraged to bring their spouses to this meeting. Shaw will provide something for everyone.

Shaw is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with B.A. degrees in both Speech and Physical Education. He also holds a Master of Sacred Ministry degree from Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon.

CANTON SOUTH, Ohio; October 16, 2008 -- Kent Oliver, executive director of the Stark County District Library in Canton, Ohio, talked to Canton South Rotarians about the library district. His talk centered on the service aspects associated with the eleven locations that comprise the district plus a fleet of mobile libraries on wheels.

Oliver presented the club with a PowerPoint[tm] presentation that illustrated the library in action, including the various library branches across Stark County. Members of the club enjoyed his humor as well as the interesting bits of information that he gave.

A small part of Oliver's talk touched on the upcoming Library Issue #53, which is a one-mill replacement levy. He explained that the Library is not seeking new monies, only the renewal of present money so the organization can continue to operate from day to day, providing a caldron of services to the community.

Ernie Schott
Owner of Taggarts in Canton
Home of The Bittner
CANTON SOUTH, Ohio; July 24, 2008 -- Canton South Rotary was honored to have Ernie Schott of the Canton Rotary Club present interesting tidbits of information about Taggarts, the home of the world-famous Bittner. Ernie, owner and proprietor of Taggarts, told Canton South Rotarians how Taggarts started in the 1800s and how he acquired this well-known establishment.

Ernie shared with the club how The Bittner became world famous by shipping them across the United States to well known sports figures and businesses. Best of all, Ernie became a huge hit with everyone who attended when he handed out $5 certificates.

Taggarts continues to receive top reviews from those who visit the establishment, especially sports fans who come to the Canton area to visit the Football Hall of Fame, including those who come to be enshrined. Recently Taggarts opened a new establishment in Magnolia, Ohio, which has become just as popular as the Canton facility.

Robert E. Pattison
District 6650 Governor
CANTON SOUTH, OHIO; July 17, 2008 -- Canton South Rotary was honored to have District 6650 Governor Robert Pattison visit the club on July 17, 2008. Governor Pattison discussed the ideals and benefits of Rotary to the local and Int'l community, showing a power point presentation while doing so.

Governor Pattison, former Health Commissioner with the Canton City Board of Health, holds a Bachelor of Science with the University of Nebraska, majoring in chemistry and with a minor in Mathematics and physics. His many affiliations include the National Association of City & County Health Officers, Ohio Public Health Association, Ohio Health Commissioners Association, and many more.
