And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. -- Colossians 3:15 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. -- Philippians 4:7 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. -- John 14:27 "I was ... surprised, as I hadn't read the Bible in years, as how much of Benedict's advice came straight from scripture. In his prologue, he tatks that enticing question of Psalm 34, 'Which of you desires life, and covets many days to enjoy good?' and states that God has already given us the answer in the very next verse of the psalm: 'Keep your tongue from evil, your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil, and do good: seek peace, and pursue it' (Ps 34:12-14). It was good to be reminded, as I thought of the conflicts in my town and church and family, that peace is not an easy thing, but something that must be struggled for."
