Fallen Star Opens the Bottomless Pit
|
The Apostle, Saint John, on the Island of Patmos, was "taken in the spirit" and shown things yet to come. This was more than a vision, it was "in the spirit" where he was absent from the body. This I'm convinced of as I can relate. Saint Paul spoke of similar experiences in 2 Corinthians 12.
Could St. John have witnessed modern day marvels, like the one shown on the right? Or did he speak of true biological-based locusts that were pent up either within the center of the Earth or within the "star" that must hit the Earth to open the bottomless pit, which releases smoke into the air.
There was a day when I thought that St. John's description of this event yet to come was nothing more than his witnessing a modern day heliocopter, like the one shown above. But since then, I've begun to wonder about this, pondering the idea that maybe, just perhaps, God might just have a few tricks up his sleeve that modern man has no concept of.
First, it's quite possible that he saw the radio-controlled craft like the ones being flown in Afghanistan and Iraq by CIA and Military personnel, as the size would make sense. A full size heliocopter, however, would be much too large to comply with St. John's description.
One thing for sure is that none of us really knows what's coming. We can ponder all of this until the cows come home and most of us will have it wrong. No one has the full picture here, but one thing is for sure, those days yet to come will surely be frightening.
I'm convinced of one thing, for most of the tribulation times most events will appear normal, as if by normal, natural phenomena. I've often wondered what the Pharaoh in Egypt thought when Moses did his thing with the staff. All those insects and other phenomena couldn't have seemed "normal" or "natural" to him. Surely he could have seen the "writing on the wall" in this regard--but we know that he didn't. He somehow rationalized all of the events he witnessed with his own eyes as being beatable by him and his staff of magicians. We all know that the Jews escaped with their gold and other items of worth. We know from history that they've even found evidence of mass deaths in the sea where they crossed.
What will it take for you to believe that the Bible is accurate and on target today? What will it take for us to acknowledge that God rules, that His Son, Jesus, died for our sins on the cross and that we need not die an eternal death at the close of this age?
I believe in Jesus Christ, and even though I'm not a good Christian, I know He's there, helping those who knock at His door. Those who ask will receive. We need to knock and we need to knock now! The time is getting short my fellow men.
