Jesus Christ Describes
End Times To His Apostles

(Jesus' own words marked in red)

Personal Comment

Some of my friends have cited chapter and verse to dispute my claim that Matthew 24 is the "key" to the End Time issue as written of throughout the Bible. My only defense is that if you look at the red print, Matthew 24 is the only book of the Bible where Christ himself goes into a good amount of detail in what will lead up to the end. He provides us with a chronology that is difficult to dispute once we truly sit down and study it. He does not break it up, He does not go back and forth, as St. John does in the book of Revelation. He gives it to us straight out, without interruption. ABC

Saint Matthew, Chapter 24

  1. Jesus left and was going away from the Temple when his disciples came to him to show him the Temple's buildings.
  2. "Yes," he said, "you may well look at all these. I tell you this: not a single stone here will be left in its place; every one of them will be thrown down."
  3. As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him in private. "Tell us when all this will be," they asked, "and what will happen to show that it is the time for your coming and the end of the age."
  4. Jesus answered: "Watch out, and do not let anyone fool you.
  5. Because many men will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah!' and fool many people.
  6. "You are going to hear the noise of battles close by and the news of battles far away; but, listen, do not be troubled. Such things must happen, but do not mean that the end has come.
  7. "One country will fight another country, one kingdom will attack another kingdom. "There will be famines and earthquakes everywhere.
  8. "All these things are like the first pains of childbirth.
  9. "Then men will arrest you and hand you over to be punished, and you will be put to death. All mankind will hate you because of me.
  10. "Many will give up their faith at that time; they will betray each other and hate each other.
  11. "Then many false prophets will appear and fool many people.
  12. "Such will be the spread of evil that many people's love will grow cold.
  13. "But the person who holds out to the end will be saved.
  14. "And this Good News about the Kingdom will be preached through all the world, for a witness to all mankind'and then will come the end.
  15. "You will see 'The Awful Horror,' of which the prophet Daniel spoke, standing in the holy place." (Note to the reader: understand what this means!)
  16. "Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills.
  17. "The man who is on the roof of his house must not take the time to go down and get his belongings from the house.
  18. "The man who is in the field must not go back to get his cloak.
  19. How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant, and for mothers who have little babies!"
  20. "Pray to God that you will not have to run away during the winter or on a Sabbath!
  21. "For the trouble at that time will be far more terrible than any there has ever been, from the beginning of the world to this very day. Nor will there ever be anything like it.
  22. "But God has already reduced the number of days; had he not done so, nobody would survive. For ths sake of his chosen people, however, God will reduce the days.
  23. "Then, if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or 'There he is!''do not believe him.
  24. "For false Messiahs and false prophets will appear; they will perform great signs and wonders for the purpose of deceiving God's chosen people, if possible.
  25. "Listen! I have told you this ahead of time.
  26. "Or, if people should tell you, 'Look, he is out in the desert!''don't go there; or if they say, 'Look, he is hiding here!'don't believe it.
  27. "For the Son of Man will come like the lightning which flashes across the sky from the east to the west.
  28. "Wherever there is a dead body the vultures will gather."
  29. "Soon after the trouble of those days the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their course.
  30. "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky; then all of tribes of earth will weep, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
  31. "The great trumpet will sound, and he will send out his angels to the four corners of the earth, and they will gather his chosen people from one end of the world to the other."
  32. "Let the fig tree teach you a lesson. When its branches become green and tender, and it starts putting out leaves, you know that summer is near.
  33. "In the same way, when you see all these things, you will know that the time is near, ready to begin.
  34. "Remember this! All these things will happen before the people now living have all died.
  35. "Heaven and earth will pass away; my words will never pass away.
  36. "No one knows, however, when that day and hour will come'neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; the Father alone knows.
  37. "The coming of the Son of Man will be like what happened in the time of Noah.
  38. "Just as in the days before the Flood, people ate and drank, men and women married, up to the very day Noah went into the ark;
  39. "yet they did not know what was happening until the Flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes.
  40. "At that time two men will be working in the field; one will be taken away, the other will be left behind.
  41. Two women will be at the mill grinding meal: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind.
  42. "Watch out, then, because you do not know what day your Lord will come.
  43. "Remember this: if the man of the house knew the time when the thief would come, he would stay awake and not let the thief break into his house.
  44. "For this reason, then, you must be always ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him."

Saint Matthew, Chapter 24

  1. And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
  2. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things' Verily I say unto you. There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
  3. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, sayhing, Tell us, when shall these things be' And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world'
  4. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
  5. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
  6. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
  7. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
  8. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
  9. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
  10. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
  11. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
  12. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
  13. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
  14. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations: and then shall the end come.
  15. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
  16. Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains:
  17. Let him which is on the house top not come down to take any thing out of his house:
  18. Neither let h im which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
  19. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
  20. But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
  21. For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
  22. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
  23. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there: believe it not.
  24. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
  25. Behold, I have told you before.
  26. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
  27. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
  28. For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
  29. Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the poweres of the heavens shall be shaken:
  30. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heven with power and glory.
  31. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
  32. Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
  33. So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
  34. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
  35. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
  36. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
  37. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
  38. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.
  39. And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away: so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
  40. Then shall two be in the field: the one shall be taken, and the other left.
  41. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
  42. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
  43. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken into.
  44. Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
