Most of us probably recall the story about David, the young teenager who slew, or killed Goliath, a giant in the land of the Philistines. King Saul's forces were in combat with that of the Philistines and Goliath commanded Saul to send out his best warrior to do mortal combat with him to decide the fate of the conflict.
David, a young shepherd boy, came to bring food and drink to his brothers who were part of King Saul's forces. During his visit he learned of Goliath's offer. Where all of Saul's regulars--who were grown, adult men, refused to take up Goliath's challenge. Surprisingly enough, however, David, but a mere teenager, did. As the story goes, David went on to kill the giant right where he stood using a single stone and a slingshot, thus deciding the outcome of the conflict. We find ourselves afraid to speak up, to speak out against what is wrong for fear that the bad men making these threats will harm or kill us. Although it may be hard to achieve the ideal goal here, we cannot be deceived--God expects us to be strong as Christians and to stand behind His Son, Jesus. We're clearly told that those who fail to do so will not be acknowledged to our Father in Heaven by His most Holy Son, Jesus Christ. So we must be brave and endure during this most difficult time in human history.
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matthew 24: 9-13 King James Version |
