Some people believe that the recent "economic bailout" passed by the Congress of the United States was nothing more than to repay individuals with for services rendered--wervices that the "powers that be" would rather not have out there in public domain. There are others who believe that it amounts to nothing less than robbery of the people's money. Of course, there are other theories out there floating around, but no matter which one is correct, the one thing we know is that it's not helping anyone but the people who caused this problem in the first place.
The recent business failures, loan defaults, and other economic tragedies that have brought thousands of people grief and the loss of jobs, retirement money, and more, are only the beginning of what lies ahead. It almost seems like corporate America is trying to bring this nation and her people down to its financial knees. The greed and corruption is so widely dispersed that you might wonder how we could ever uncover it so the authorities can deal with it.
Those who have lost jobs, retirement funds, and more may be even tempted to "settle the score" with some of these CEOs and others who plundered and robbed the companies they work/worked for. Frankly, you don't have to--God has it covered.
The following excerpt from a daily devotional book by Pamela McQuade, entitled Daily Wisdom for the Workplace, offers some wonderful words of wisdom about this recent bailout.
Some of today's corporate leaders have begun to smell like defunct flies. Their greed has impacted the lives of hundreds--even thousands--of employees and investors. While they've lied about their companies' bottom line, they've impacted the lives of thousands who have lost their jobs and money.
Not only do actions like that stink to us, they stink to God. Those who are found out lose the respect of others and pay a price. It may not consist of jail or unemployment, but it will certainly contain God's disapproval and punishment. Imagine smelling like putrefying flies to God's nose! What could be worse?
If you feel tempted to "settle the score" with one of these CEOs, it's best that you don't. Let God do the job--he'll do it better than you can anyway. Besides, he who laughs last, laughs best.
